Naming UWA Programs, Chairs and Professorships

A Book Endowment Fund in the Tutwiler Learning Resources Center can be named from gifts totaling $10,000 with only the annual interest earned being expended.

A Teaching Endowment Fund can be named with a gift of $10,000 per college. Specific existing programs can be endowed by a gift or gifts which establish a fund, the income from which would provide at least one-half of the annual operating costs of the program.

A College can be named by an endowment of 2.5 Million Dollars.

An Endowed Professorship can be named and endowed by a donation of $250,000. Income from the fund would supplement the existing salary of a university professor so that superior candidates for teaching can be obtained.

An Endowed Chair in any existing discipline maybe endowed for a sum of $600,000 and can be named by the donor. The State of Alabama will match this type of endowment, called the Eminent Scholar Program, with an additional $400,000.
